Adieu!

Friends, enemies, et alii, it has indeed been fun. We recently marked, in a post which we were preparing but shan't have a chance to post, the first complete year of our "pontificationate." We have had some 120 posts, in addition to this one. Some were mildly intellectual, some were dry and boring, some were funny, and some were downright bad. Be that as it may, it looks like our first year is also going to be our last... at least, in this format/venue/site/whatever you want to call it.

Several factors necessitate this, our closing of Vive Christus Rex.

First, we don't possess the time necessary to keep it up, what with a 20-hour courseload. Most of our scanty internet time is spent doing homework. Simply put, we don't have the leisure to spend 5-45 minutes composing blogposts, even only once or twice per week. We've always been a believer in "quality over quantity," and if the site cannot be maintained in a high-quality manner, then why bother?

Secondly, related and perhaps most importantly, our blog is not accomplishing much, frankly. We haven't sparked any mass-conversions in 3rd world countries, or incited (that we know of) anyone to give up a secularist ideology in favor of Traditional Catholicism. Our tone is controversial, "in the face," so to speak. This has always been the case, in the hopes that the blatantly contrary attitude, when compared with a modern ideological standpoint, would spark interest in sincere and open-minded non-trads. Additionally, it always added a bit of humor to things, and we know of many who found our site "a riot," to use one compliment. However, though we've certainly invested a very great amount of time into the blog, it has never shone as a paragon of traditional thought, but rather, we've simply "gotten along." This is not a good state of affairs, because we haven't really done much. Why bother blogging, when one's blog is inconsequential when compared with superb blogs like Traditio in Radice, (Requiescat in Pace,) TrueRestoration, etc. They say or have said all that we'd like to say, and have said it in a much better and more accessible manner than we ever could.

Finally, as you might be thinking, given that our page has sat pretty much "as is" since we've been at school, we would ordinarily be content to leave our blog as it currently exists, and to strive for perfection, albeit very slowly, to only update every couple of months, or to only maintain our website when we are not in an academic setting, where it might interfere with schoolwork. However, this is simply not to be, because the authorities of St. Mary's College, leaning toward a new policy of disallowing student websites, have asked us to close Vive Christus Rex.

Consequently, this will take effect in a matter of days, after we've been able to archive some of our more noteworthy posts. After that, we’ll delete all posts save for this, our closing, so that those who link to the site won’t have them arbitrarily rendered dead. We only hope that our intellectual labors over the past year have not been entirely in vain, here at their cessation. At present, you may still get your fill of our opinions on Fisheaters, or perhaps other blogs we've been known to put in an appearance on, when we have the time, so do not despair entirely, dear reader, at our closing! (LOL)

God bless!
